This course is delivered in partnership between Global Knowledge and Firefly Education. This partnership has enabled the Cisco market to conduct training on the latest technology addressing business relevant issues and is constantly invested in, to keep the materials up to date of any changes that happen.

Configuring Cisco MDS 9000 Series Switches (DCMDS) v2.0 is an instructor-led course for the end-user customer consisting of lectures and labs. This course is a five-day product training course.

DCMDS is a comprehensive hands-on experience which familiarizes data center systems engineers, field engineers, architects, and Cisco partners who implement storage networking solutions with the Cisco MDS 9000 Series switch platform.

Pre-Requisites

  • Basic understanding of data storage hardware components and protocols, including SCSI and Fibre Channel.
  • Basic understanding of networking protocols, including Ethernet and IP.

  • Explore system installation and perform initial configuration of Cisco Multilayer Director Switches (MDS)
  • Explain how to: configure Fibre Channel interfaces; use the FLOGI database and the FCNS database; create VSANs; manage Domain IDs and FCID assignment; use NPV mode and NPIV feature; and configure Port Channels, Device Alias, Basic Zoning, Enhanced Zoning, and Smart Zoning
  • Explore intelligent SAN fabric services available in the Cisco MDS 9000 Series switch platforms
  • Learn how to implement Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE)
  • Learn how to implement security in Cisco MDS 9000 Series switches
  • Describe the basic FCIP configuration process; use Fibre Channel Port Channels to provide high availability for FCIP environments; implement IVR in order to increase the reliability of the SAN extension solution; and identify parameters that must be tuned to optimize performance across the FCIP tunnel
